Building Good Vibes With Positive Affirmations

Write these down, post them, and say them every day.

We all know that teachers play a huge role in setting the tone of a classroom. Students of all ages quickly pick up on their teacher’s “vibe” when they enter the room, which can color how the rest of the class, the day, and even the year goes. It’s essential for teachers to take care of themselves and make sure they are giving off an air of positivity in their classroom.

Beginning of the year stress, feeling burned out, and even unrelated issues from home can leave a teacher feeling less than inspired when arriving at school. Positive affirmations can help a teacher get back into a productive and optimistic mindset before greeting the class. Here are ten of our favorites:

  • I am eager to start my day and know that it will be a great one.

  • I am here to make a difference in the world today.

  • I do things daily that support my mental health.

  • My skills and capabilities will support my work today.

  • Each day in the classroom, I am learning to be an even better teacher.

  • My work matters in the lives of these students.

  • I will be as accepting of my own mistakes as I am of my students’ errors.

  • It is okay if today doesn’t go exactly as I planned.

  • The parents are on my side - we all want what is best for the students.

  • I learn as much from my students as they learn from me.

By staying positive and taking care of your mindset, you will create a welcoming and comfortable environment for your students. You will also protect yourself from burnout and retain your passion for teaching.
